The Bull Bikes - WRS team rider edged out Spain’s Torres and Sabatucci over the 10 laps of the WRS Round, securing both his first victory in the series and the lead in the overall championship standings!
It was a spectacular opening race of the WRS Round, the third event of the V2 Future Champ Ducati Academy season, held on the WorldSBK stage! The young V2 riders, under the watchful eye of Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, delivered an exciting show over the 10 laps of the first of two races scheduled at the “Marco Simoncelli” circuit.
Local rider Devis Bergamini, representing the Bull Bikes - WRS team and starting from pole position, took the lead from the very first metres of the race. Following Andrea Migno’s crash on the opening lap, Bergamini was able to capitalize on the gap that formed behind him and, thanks to an exceptionally strong race pace, claimed his fourth victory of the 2026 season, finishing more than five seconds ahead of second-placed rider Jesus Torres of the Atomico Racing Team.
The battle for third place featured an intense fight lasting almost four laps between Kevin Sabatucci, Portugal’s Martim Marco and Hungary’s Kevin Farkas. The duel was only decided at the finish line: after Farkas crashed at the Rio corners, Sabatucci managed to edge out Marco by just seven thousandths of a second.
Fifth and sixth place went to Lele Vocino and Raffaele Tragni, while Daniele Galloni, Nicola Tonolo, Diego Goretti and Poland’s Jakub Belak completed the top ten.
There was early drama in the opening stages of the race when Martin Galiuto made contact with Romanian rider Jacopo Hosciuc at the first chicane during an overtaking attempt. While Galiuto was forced to retire, Hosciuc rejoined the race and finished in thirteenth position. Points were also scored by Hungarian rookie Lukacs, India’s Geoffrey, Andrea Mercaldo and Riccardo Pasquini, while Israel’s Eyal Assif continued his steady progress with a sixteenth-place finish.
Following the first of the two WRS Round races at Misano, the overall championship now has a new leader. Thanks to his victory, Bergamini moves to the top of the standings with 71 points. Jacopo Hosciuc sits just two points behind, while Sabatucci and Torres trail the championship lead by eight and sixteen points respectively.
On Sunday, June 14, the V2 Future Champ Ducati Academy returns to the track for the second and final race of the WRS Round, with the start of the 10-lap contest scheduled for 4:20 PM.
